Spring Break

It’s that time of year again – spring break.  That time where all of the college kids forget what school and responsibilities are and adventure off somewhere new.  This spring break my place of choice was California.  I love the beach and the vibe in California so I went and visited a friend.

IMG_0011.JPGI drove from Las Vegas to Camarillo, CA on Sunday and it took me the longest time to get there.  It normally is only a 4-5 hour drive… and it took me 8 hours to get there.  8 HOURS!!  It was the worst and I was all alone the whole time.  Never again aha.

When I arrived I more or less just went to sleep because it was 11:30 at night.

Monday, I went to Panera Bread and got a pitaya bowl.  It was a pretty relaxed day considering my friend had school.

Tuesday, we went to Good and Healthy, then drove out to Santa Barbara.  We spent the afternoon walking down State st. and peeking throughout all of the cute shops.  Then we stopped on the beach for a little photo shoot.

Then we drove home. It was such a relaxed, chill day that it really just made me realize how much I can’t wait for summer!

Finally, the last day arrived and it was seriously tragic.  I was so so sad that I wasn’t able to stay a little longer.  But on the bright side… I got my belly button pierced!

I had some super duper cute outfits throughout the few days I was in Cali, so cute I just HAD to snapchat them duh. (add me tasianicolec)

The rest of break I just spent my time at home or at work… so what I do typically.

Sunday was Easter and so I had dinner at my grandparents house here in town and then went to my sister’s house for a little while to play board games with her friends.

What did you do over spring break?

A Journey (REALLY LONG POST)

I just wanted to sit at my laptop and write for a moment, about nothing really in particular, just my life.  It’s kind of long, but I hope you enjoy.

I was born on December 23, 1998 in Washington state.

I lived there for 7 years and during that time I don’t remember much.  I remember going to preschool and also sitting at my plastic desk doing school work for homeschool because I was homeschooled for kindergarten and first grade.  Also, I remember dressing up in animal onesies with my friend Sean Holland and play animals around his house.  And I remember going to second grade with my two best friends Sean and Brianna P where we played in the rocks and hid underneath tires.

In the middle of my first year at public school, second grade, we moved to California where I remember most of my childhood.

I met so many amazing people, for example Danielle H, Brianna L, Shaiann, Kirstin L, and so so SO many more. I remember countless times when we would run around and swing at the red white and blue park, and there was the yellow park down the street, and I remember 7th grade walking to school was the most fun time of the entire day.  I remember hanging out at the BX or walking down the street to the shopette just for something to do.  I remember eating bagels with butter and pepperoni for a snack and I don’t know why but it was the most delicious thing in the entire world.  Leaving California was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do, but it has definitely proved itself worth it.  I am going to go a little more in depth with 7th grade though because that was definitely an eventful year.

I decided to do competitive cheer in 7th grade and I had an amazing time.  I was balancing 7th grade, cheer, and student council all at the same time.  Also, I had my first “boyfriend” and his name was Nick F.  Pretty cool guy, and he added me on snapchat a few months ago and I thought it was such a crazy thing that he found me.  Anyways, I was very very busy and that made the year fly by a little faster than I wanted.

Once making it to Las Vegas, it was the beginning of summer so I didn’t have any friends yet.  I spent the entire summer skyping my friend Danielle and honestly just playing video games all afternoon.  It wasn’t the best experience but it was something to do.

I feel as though I hyped 8th grade up a little too much because when I arrived it was so much harder to make friends than I had imagined.  I met up with a girl called Selena who was from southern California and she had just moved there too.  We didn’t have much else in common, but at least we had that.  We also were in the same homeroom together so it made life a little less stressful to face this new school with someone.  Then in PE, I met 2 more people, Cayenne and Christina.  They were super nice to me and I was super excited that I had made 3 friends already and my first day wasn’t over.  THEN I had my history class, where I met my soon to be best friend Lacy F.  I’m not going to go into detail on how we met but let’s just say, it’s funny.

A few weeks into school and I had met 2 more people, Lacey A and Zach C.  Selena and I stopped being friends after one lunch I received a text saying we weren’t friends anymore, which is fine.  I had Lacey and Zach.  We hung out at lunch every single day for about 2-3 weeks and it was super duper fun.  One day, Lacy asked me to sit with her and her friends at lunch and I said sure.  We talked and I met a few more people such as Kaitlyn and I was super happy to get along with these people.  Little did I know, Lacey and Lacy weren’t friends and soon enough Lacey told me to choose between them and well, I chose Lacy.  Thank goodness I did.  The first time Lacy and I ever hung out after school was at a carnival and then we had our very first sleepover right after. We were fast friends.

High school came and Lacy was practically my only friend.  We had the same lunch on A days and B days, so we were always together.  One day, Lacy and I had a small falling out and we stopped being friends.  It wasn’t like we fought or anything, we had just stopped talking really.  Now, I was all alone.  I ate lunch in the theatre on B days because, well, that was the only place I didn’t feel weird eating alone.  I met a kid named Josh, who was a senior and I thought I was the coolest kid on the block for hanging out with him.  Josh, Miranda C and I started eating lunch together EVERY B day.  I never asked for his social media or to take a picture or anything like that because I was afraid that if I did we would stop being friends.  After all, I was only a freshman and he was a SENIOR.

Winter break came rolling around and I came downstairs the day before my birthday.  My mom had this look on her face like she had bad news.  I asked what was wrong and she had told me that Josh had committed suicide the night before.  That was the hardest thing to hear when, at the time, he was really my only friend. I just said, “oh, okay. that’s so sad.” and then moved along with my day.  I guess I’ve always put up a front when bad things happen.  Miranda and I continued to eat lunch together and talk because, well, we still had one thing in common.  Josh.

Sophomore year I decided to quit doing competitive cheer and join school cheer.  To be honest, I hated it.  But one good thing did come out of it and that was my friend Miranda R.  We are still friends to this day but tbh I haven’t heard from really any of the other girls I cheered with since then.  During this time I decided I was going to make this girl Piper talk to me.  I was completely successful and we became fast friends.  Piper was 100% my bestest friend throughout this entire year and still is a good friend today.   Right towards the end of the year, Lacy and I linked back up and were back to being great friends.  Over summer, Lacy and I took a trip to Reno and it was super fun.  We didn’t do much but we met some super nice people and hung around the arcade a LOT.

Junior year I decided to quit cheer completely and devote my year to theatre.  BEST DECISION I HAD EVER MADE!!!!! Theatre became my life and if you needed me, I was there.  I participated in every single show that year.  Lip Sync- Hobo group, BGB- Ensemble, Make a Wish- A Friend Like ME (Victor, MJ, Savannah, and I), A Midsummer’s Nights Dream- Peasant with MJ, Shrek the Musical- Assistant Stage Manager/Duloc Doll.  I was busy all year long but I was so happy with myself.  During this time I also had my first real boyfriend Dayton and learned so much about myself.

Senior year.  Wow.  It definitely flew by faster than everyone warned it would.  I can’t even express how fast it flew genuinely.  I was still very involved in theatre, but I stage managed so much more throughout the year.  Lip Sync- Hit the Quan, BGB- Newsies, Fall Dance Show- Stage Manager, Harvey- Stage Manager and Grand, Spring Dance Show- Stage Manager, Beauty and the Beast- Stage Manager.  So, you could say that I really enjoyed stage managing.  Throughout the year I can definitely say I made some friendships I never want to give up.  I also got so much closer to people I already knew.  Some people I want to shout out is Brendan, Griffin, Ambur, Bret, Bella, Brad, Kacie… genuinely thankful for these people and the friendships I have with them.  Bonds, that I think, can’t be broken.  Also, I went to New York with my theatre and created another bond with someone – Rachael.  This girl and I have some of the best conversations and honestly can’t thank her enough for being my rock.  ALSO – SHOUTOUT TO ASHLEY MY BEST FRIEND 🙂 She lived at my house practically over the summer, and I couldn’t ask for a nicer person in my life.

No matter what happened throughout the year, I am so thankful for everyone who is in my life.  It’s crazy to think that I have been friends with Danielle since 2nd grade and I am a freshman in COLLEGE.  That’s about 11 YEARS of friendship.  Absolutely insane.  Also, I’ve been friends with Brianna for just about the same amount of time and she just visited about a year ago?  Maybe a year and a half?

I believe that you make an effort to keep the people in your life that you care the most about.

College.  I haven’t really done much as far as college goes yet.  I went to a football game where a drunk guy almost puked on me, I went to a frat party, and I did genuinely terrible as far as grades in my first semester.  But one good thing came out of it and that’s “my only friend from college” Hanna.  She’s such a little bundle of sunshine and has been my best friend this past semester.  Unfortunately, she will no longer be attending UNLV with me but that will never change the memories or even change the fact that she is one of my best friends.  I can definitely say I hung out with her EVERY SINGLE DAY of the semester and I never got bored of her.  I don’t quite know what I am going to do without her but I will have to survive.  She definitely taught me a little about myself and how it’s totally NOT weird to drive to California with someone one week after you meet them if you really think that they are going to be your good friend.  Because I did that, and we became the best of friends.  We’ve had so many good memories and I am thankful to say we don’t have a single bad one.  I’m glad to call her my friend.

The future.  This next year I have so much planned.  I have my next semester of college, I am starting a second job, and I am going to Europe with Rachael and my family.  I am so excited to see what this year has in store for me.  Thank you, to all of my friends and family for supporting me in my life.  I’m ready to see what’s next.

A parade, a bachelorette party, and a wedding!

You could say I have been a little busy this holiday season.  Just like last year, I was in the annual Downtown Summerlin Holiday Parade as a little dancer, and I loved it just as much as last year too.  Here are some pictures I wanted to share from that, as well as the display picture for this post.  Also, I made it a slideshow cuz I thought it was cuter.  Don’t judge.

Next we had a bachelorette party and a wedding for my brother Bret and my friend Bella’s wedding.  Probably the most adorable thing I have ever been a part of and might I add I am so thankful for having been a bridesmaid in their lovely wedding.  I will definitely share more professional pictures of the wedding on my Instagram and Twitter so definitely check those out (links on the Contact ME! page).

So definitely been an experience.  On top of all of this madness, I had my birthday and Christmas which were both wonderful thanks to my friends and family.  Love you all.

How was your holiday season?

Bad Study Habits

I’m not going to lie, I am quite the procrastinator.  I know, big shocker there but when it comes down to it, I really am bad at making myself do homework or study for tests I don’t want to have etc.  I mean, can you blame me?  It’s not like sitting and studying is how I want to be spending my afternoon right? Exactly.  Well anyways, I wanted to just get that out there before I explain my INSANE LUCK on my first quiz in a class in college.

I LITERALLY just got extra credit on an exam I didn’t study for.  I guessed on all of my answers, and I got a 28.5/27 on my quiz.  Don’t ask me how I did it, because I have no idea. But I’m not going to lie, I am not proud of not studying.

I have a pretty busy schedule with school, homework, work, and life getting in the way… but I could always make time to study.  With saying this, I encourage all of YOU to learn from this and don’t be stupid like me :]

If you don’t know how to get started, let me help you.

  1. Everyone studies differently. Whether you focus better in quiet or if you have music playing, just set up your ideal study scene and get cracking.
  2. Don’t stress yourself out.  When studying, don’t focus too hard on the negative aspects because you might end up frying your brain and you won’t be able to retain any of the information you need to.
  3. Use your resources.  If you have a test on the chapters of your textbook, read it over and take notes that you could further study off of.
  4. Ask for help.  If you haven’t ever been good at studying, ask a friend or someone to help you out!  Even getting a group of friends together and studying all at once you can get a lot more done and it has a little more of a fun aspect to it!

There are plenty more tips and tricks I could give you but, these are just a few that come to mind. Personally, I like to sit in my school’s library with my headphones in and focus on whatever subject I need to study for, but I’m also the person who loves being surrounded by my friends as we all study together!

Try some stuff out and see what works for you!

Do you have any neat study habits? I’d love to hear them :] Comment below!

What to do When Bored in a Library

Hi guys!  Wow, so I have had the best response ever when it comes to the post University Struggles on Elm’s Blog so thank you all so much for being so supportive and nice :]

ANYWAYS

I head to the library on my campus almost every time I am bored or whenever I have a break after classes because I have really no where else to go so I get some homework done, but there is only so much homework to do.  So how do I spend my time in the library?

Let me tell you.

  1. I watch netflix.

I know that sounds SUPER WEIRD but I plug my headphones in and utilize the free wifi to watch friends….. sue me

2. I check emails

Also, probably doesn’t sound like the MOST FUN thing in the world to do but believe it or not you can get through a LOT OF EMAILS in a short amount of time in the library.

3.  I read other blogs

Honestly, I’m not going to lie…  I am probably the least active follower on anyone’s blog ever BUT don’t fear I read your blog posts, even if I don’t like or comment on them I swear.

4. Write a story

I have been actively writing a story for my friend Rachael and so when I am bored in the library I will continue  on with the story and make the magic happen lol.

5. Write for the Blog 🙂

As you know, I have contributed to Elm’s blog BUT I also, recently, have  become a contributor for a website called My Trending Stories and if you want to check me out on that website please click here!

Those are some things for you to do in the library! I hope that helps some of your bored minds like it helps me! :]

Downtown..

I love to adventure throughout the city I live in because there are a ton of beautiful places to go and parts of the city that are under-appreciated like Fremont street to be more specific.  I believe that Fremont street is known for all of the crazy druggies who hang around down there as well as the naked people just kinda walking about but to be honest, that’s not all that is there.  There are musicians and artists who work down there to attract tourists and some people are just blow my mind amazing at what they do.  I saw one street performer who really stood out to me.  He was accepting tips, but he wasn’t asking for them.  He put on a small show where all he explained was how he believed in peace and happiness and how the world should just live in harmony.

IMG_2412He was amazing to watch.

Also, down by fremont is the container park!

IMG_2414It’s pretty much a bunch of shops built into old shipping containers and there is some really amazing food in there!  My friends and I went into the toy shop and played with all of the toys for about a half an hour before we realized we probably looked suspicious touching everything and not buying anything so we left.  However, if you want a chill space to hang out and grab some food, this is the place to go.

Las Vegas is known for the bright lights and the busy city but that’s not all that is here.  There is culture and music and people that who have traveled across the world just to come to the city to gamble and throw away all of their money but what they dont realize is that there is more to the city than just somewhere to gamble and get drunk, they just don’t go past the city to find out.

IMG_2415I compare Vegas to New York, there are striving artists around every corner and also you see some beauty behind every building whether it has a tiny piece of art on it or a full blown picture on the side of a building.

It really is beautiful and I love exploring it with my friends.

This day, I explored with my best friend Ashley, and our friends True and Cade.

Keep your eyes open and your mind clear, because you will find some things you may have never seen before.

Break Over!

I’ve just returned from Washington, and boy oh boy was it beautiful! I am so excited to share everything I did!

First things first is the flight!

IMG_2351

I love flying (as you may have read in my post Traveling!) and I was so happy to fly to Washington for my visit with my family! When I arrived, I walked straight off the plane down to the baggage claim and lucky me my bag was right there on the carousel waiting for me! Then I proceeded to my grandma’s house to hang out and relax for the day.

While we were there, my grandma insisted on bringing me shopping which, obviously, I would never pass up! IMG_2354These are the things I bought! All of the shirts are from PacSun, but the shoes are from Famous Footwear (I think).  Anyways, I bought a white shirt with a red collar that has a cute pup on the front and says “snap me” in cursive above the dog (snapchat is tasianicolec).  I also got a grey shirt with a  maroon collar which reads “too cute to care” in cursive! Also, there is a grey long sleeved top that cuts down the front in a low V with strings across, and then also a black and white stripped dress.  My grandma also insisted on buying me a pair of Adidas, black and white and they are so super comfy!

So the next day we just stayed around the house and then went to Olive Garden for a late lunch, but then the next day I hung out with my cousin and we had dinner at my grandmas and I met his lovely girlfriend Meghan.

Finally, on Friday I hung out with my cousin David and Meghan all afternoon/evening.  We went to a park and we were pokemon hunting (pokemon go is an awesome game, might I add) and then we went to the roller skating rink and we hung out with a few more of David’s friends from his school.

IMG_2371

Saturday I sat around the house bored, until my grandma decided that I needed to get a new purse so we left the house and went shopping again!IMG_2370I got a black Michael Kors purse which was quite expensive but it is so cute and simple and I love it so so much.

Finally, Sunday came and it was time for my cousin’s party! We hung around by the pool and ate lots of food.  The party was very fun and I was so happy to have gotten to see him before he left and also I really loved meeting Meghan and her sister Ellie (who is her twin).

IMG_2393After the party I went back to my grandma’s house and had quite the dilemma with 2 spiders in the room I was staying in, so I decided I was going to sleep in the living room for the night!  Overall, the trip was so so amazing and I am so grateful I got to go on it!

Monday morning I woke up at 5am to catch my flight back to Vegas, and I was sitting next to a guy who oddly smelt like Ritz crackers… I know, weird.  On the flight I wrote 18 pages of a story that I have been avidly writing for my friend Rachael, and I was very productive! When I stepped off the plane it felt as though it was a hot hair dryer outside considering I had just come from 70 degree weather and it was 105 degrees when I arrived home.  Yay for living in the desert… 😦
